Church Map and Directions

The yellow line indicates the route from Phoenix. The lavendar line indicates the route from I-10 exit 340. The blue line indicates the route for those coming from the El Paso direction who want to turn onto North 191, then turn onto SR 266 (also known as the Stockton pass Rd) to Fort Grant , then take the Bonita dirt road 18 miles to the church mailbox. Also marked in purple is the Essence of Tranquility Hot Springs.

Coming from Phoenix (Airport)/California): Call from HWY 70 and Aravaipa
Klondyke Rd-928-828-3444
From the airport East exit take Loop 202 to “60E Globe” where it becomes HWY 70. You will not notice this transition–it is all the same road. Take Hwy 70 East through Globe-Be sure to get gas and food in Globe. Continue on HWY 70. Midway between Fort Thomas and Pima, at mile marker 313 on the right, is a sign for the Aravaipa Klondyke Rd. On
the left side of the road, across from the sign and turn, is an electrical substation(landmark). Turn right onto Aravaipa Klondyke Rd-Follow the 26-mile dirt road carefully as it can be slippery when wet and also has a few surprises for the unprepared driver. At the bottom of the last hill the road forks. To the right is Klondyke. Turn LEFT towards Bonita. After going 2.1 miles you will come to a red mailbox with “Peyote Way” on the box and 30800 in reflective numbers on the post. Turn right, cross the wash,
enter at the gate and drive in.
Coming from Tucson (Airport)/El Paso: (This road is not to be taken during
inclement weather. If stormy, call before coming in this way.) Call from I-10 and exit 340 -928-828-3444.
Take I-10 East to Willcox/Rex Allen Drive Exit 340. Be sure to get gas at truck stop. Take the Fort Grant Road (turn left at stop sign off I-10), which crosses over I-10 to Bonita. There is a Fort Grant Road sign over the overpass to indicate you are on the right road). There are three stop signs leading to Bonita. The first stop sign is about 17 miles in. (Ash Creek Road) As you come to this road you will see that it becomes dirt going ahead after the stop sign and that glass greenhouses and a paved road are on the left. Turn left, pass the 2 miles of greenhouses. The next stop sign is about two miles. On the opposite side of the road is a grain tower. Turn right. At a wide turn in the road you will see a road which appears to go straight, but actually goes to the left. Stay with the right turn. There is no stop sign. At the next stop sign, which is also a dead end, turn left
to Klondyke. This next 18 – 20 miles is unpaved and washboardy, can be treacherous during rainstorms, and is subject to flash floods. You will cross nine cattle guards. (at cg 5 you will see a steel shed, cg 6 a sign for Eureka Springs Ranch, cg 8 a sign for Klondyke, cg 9 a sign for Deer Creek Road), Road signs to watch for are “Pronghorn Pass Rd” and “Pronghorn Pass” that comes right before a cattle guard. The church is around a few more curves. The road to the church is marked by a red mailbox with “Peyote Way” and 30800 in reflective letters on the post on the right. There are lots of reflectors on box and post. Turn left, cross the dry riverbed, enter at the gate and drive in.
Alternatively(in the unlikely event of being told the road is bad from rains and flooding in Bonita), take I-10 to 191 North, go to Safford and HWY 70-turn left and go through Safford, Thatcher,
Pima and turn left at mile marker 313.Aravaipa Klondyke Rd. Follow 26 mile dirt road to T turn left towards Bonita, drive 2.2 miles to the red mailbox, turn right, cross the dry riverbed, enter at the gate and drive to the Parking area.

One response to “Church Map and Directions”

  1. […] That’s a great question. Most of the locals drive pick ups but they are also ranchers and often drive into Aravaipa Canyon. I drive a Toyota Sienna and Akbar drives a Subaru (a perfect vehicle for locals as it has high clearance!!). However, we encourage communicants to rent a compact car and they have no trouble. You might want to drive slow once you get on the dirt. We recommend 45 mph as the maximum speed. Also if there is rain you would want to come from HWY 70 as that dirt road is very well maintained and when there is rain, the tributeries created don’t flood the road. If you are coming from I-10 exit 340 you will enjoy the drive but it should be avoided if there is rain. In that case you might want to go around to the HWY 70 entrance. See the map. We recommend that all communicants call the Church when they get to the I-10 Exit (340) or to the dirt road off HWY 70 entrance (at mile marker 313).  Map and Directions here […]
